Privacy Policy

The short version

We hold your email address, your name as it came from the purchase, your order reference and your licence key - because a licence has to belong to someone. We also hold a random number for each computer you activate on. If you asked us for the free download, we also hold that address and the date you confirmed it. There is no analytics in our software or on this site, the only IP address we ever write down is the one that signs up to the mailing list, and we do not sell or share anything with anyone who is not listed below.

What we store, and why

• Your email address and name, and the order reference. From the purchase. Used to send your licence key, to answer support, and to find your licence again if you lose it.
• Your licence key and how many computers it covers.
• An installation id for each activated computer. This is a random number generated on your machine the first time the software runs. It is not derived from your hardware, your name, your network, or anything else about you or your computer - the host applications expose none of that to a plugin, and we would not want it if they did. It exists only so the server can tell your laptop from your desktop when counting the two machines your licence covers.

What we do not collect

• No analytics, telemetry or usage tracking - not in the software, not on this website.
• No IP addresses, apart from the one recorded when an address is entered into the mailing-list form - see below. No record of what you edit: our tools read your project on your own computer to do their work, and none of that ever leaves it.
• No payment details. Your card never touches our server - the payment provider handles it and we never see the number.
• No cookies on this site. The only thing stored in your browser is whether you chose the light or the dark theme, kept locally and never sent anywhere.

What the software sends, and when

A plugin contacts our licence server on three occasions only: when you activate a key, when you deactivate one, and when it quietly renews its offline pass. Each of those sends your licence key and the installation id, and nothing else.

The mailing list

The free download asks for an email address. Nothing is added to any list by typing it in: we send one message to that address, and only a person who opens it and presses the link is ever on the list. If the link is never pressed, the address is never written to and never used for anything.

For a confirmed address we keep the address itself, the date it was confirmed, and the IP address the form was submitted from. The IP address is there for two reasons and no others: it is how we can show that a given address really did ask for our email, and it is how the form refuses one machine signing up a hundred strangers.

We use the list for one thing - occasional news about our own tools. Every message carries an unsubscribe link that works in one press, with nothing to log into and no question asked. Leaving the list does not affect any licence you own.

Who else is involved

• Our payment provider, who processes the payment and holds the billing details, under their own privacy policy.
• Our hosting and email providers, who carry the server and deliver your key.

Nobody else. We do not sell, rent or share your details, and there are no advertising or tracking services attached to this site.

How long we keep it

For as long as your licence exists, because a licence with no owner cannot be supported or recovered. Ask us to delete it and we will, provided you understand that this ends the licence with it.

A mailing-list entry is kept until you leave the list. After that we keep the address alone, marked as unsubscribed, so that a later import cannot put you back on it by accident - or we delete the row outright if you would rather, which you only have to ask for.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to hello@postprodtools.com and we will deal with it - normally within a few days, and within one month at the outside. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
